A new house on a croft in the small community of Valtos on the west coast of Lewis. The house is planned around a central staircase “cut”, which gives access to the large first floor studio space. Large vertical openings connect the house with the small harbour and sea views beyond. Birch-faced plywood internal lining creates a warm interior which contrasts with the harsh windswept site.
