We are primarily based at our studio in Strathdon, located in Aberdeenshire, in the Cairngorms National Park, which we designed in 2020. With a wall of glass overlooking Glen Nochty, we find that being surrounded by a sensitive landscape which is akin to those in which our buildings are often located, enhances our design process and sensitivity. We also maintain a base in Inverness.
With a close interest in contextual architecture, as well as exploring contemporary interpretations of vernacular Scottish architecture, we truly understand the value and importance of creating homes that are not only beautiful but completely functional.
Whether your project is a modern sustainable house, a country home, or a sensitive renovation, we bring a collaborative and open-minded approach to all of our work, ensuring that clients are at the centre of the process, and the building is bespoke to them.
Andrew worked for several celebrated Scottish Architecture practices before setting up Brown & Brown in 2010. Andrew coordinates the studios design output, and always brings unprecedented levels of technical detail to all of our projects, ensuring that the design intent is preserved throughout - from conception to completion.
Andrew is an invited critic and guest lecturer at several UK schools of Architecture, and has taught at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. Andrew is a certified member of the ARB, RIBA, RIAS and SEDA, and is a Fellow of The Royal Society of Arts.
Kate has played an integral part of the business since co founding Brown & Brown in 2010.
With a keen focus on the detail, Kate works closely with clients and contractors through the planning and interior stages of our projects.
